This is one of the most famous activities in Roatan. Meeting and interacting with a dolphin is probably everybody’s hidden dream… and on our island it can come true.

The Dolphin Encounter takes place at Bailey’s Key, a small key in front of Anthony’s Key Resort, in the Sandy Bay area, home to a large family of Atlantic bottlenose dolphins. You cross the resort’s lagoon to the key, receive a short orientation at a beachfront cabana, and then walk along the white sand beach into waist-deep, crystal-clear water, where a trained naturalist introduces you to a resident dolphin.

The trainer explains the dolphins’ characteristics, anatomy and behavior, and you can touch, kiss and play with your new friend. You can take photos with your own camera during the encounter, and professional photos are available for purchase at the gift shop.

Requirements and information:

• Participants must be 3 years or older.
• Ages 3–13 must be accompanied by a paying adult.
• Children under 3 participate free of charge while being held by a paying adult.
• Personal cameras are permitted during the encounter.
• Professional photos are available for purchase at the gift shop.
• Pregnant women are not permitted to participate.

Getting there: transportation to and from Anthony’s Key Resort is not included. You can arrive by taxi or with your own car; if you prefer, we can arrange the transfer for you at an extra cost.
